12/19/2025
IMPORTANT BULLETIN
Clarendon Animal Control has been contacted by the Texas Department of State Health Services, Zoonosis Branch out of Amarillo, Texas. They want to inform the public that HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) or commonly known as Bird Flu, has been reported in Texas.
TAHC needs to be made aware of any and all poultry/duck exposures (dead bird in yard or coop) or die offs. Owners need to follow up with their vet if their pet dog/cat were exposed to sick or dead birds. People can follow up with their physician and DSHS if they think they are exposed.
The branch encourages people who may encounter deceased birds or poultry to take necessary precautions and utilize proper protection equipment (PPE).
If you encounter a deceased bird or poultry, please contact Clarendon Animal Control at 806-874-3438 for removal.
