The City of Clarendon has a General Election for the unapposed Mayor and two Alderman positions, and a Special Election to reauthorize the local sales and use tax at the rate of .25% to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets. The tax expires on the fourth anniversary of the date of this election unless the imposition of the tax is reauthorized. The tax was first approved in May 2019 and has generated $233,744 to date. These funds have been used for 103 blocks of single coat seal coating, 4 blocks of two course seal coating, and 1 block of 6" hot mix paving with concrete curb and gutter on 7th Street.
